Welcome

This website is dedicated to the St. Andrew’s Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament which was established in the church of St. Andrew’s, Westland Row, Ireland on the feast of Corpus Christi, 1848.

Its foundation was a desire to articulate the idea that a life of devotion was achievable to men and women regardless of the position in society and that long hours spent in prayer, penance and fasting was not necessary to become a devout follower.

While many of these devotional societies had been founded in the previous centuries, St. Andrews church retains the last surviving confraternity in Ireland.

It was circa 1539 that a Dominican Father, Thomas Stella, established the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament at the Dominican Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Italy.

Making A Difference

St Andrew's Parish Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament is in the business of changing and shaping lives. The work we do at our Non-Profit Organization is aimed at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

What is the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament?

It is a society which gathers those who feel close to the Blessed Sacrament and who wish to support its charisma through prayers and sacrifices.  Thus the Confraternity contributes to the service of the Church, through supporting numerous vocations, the sanctification of priests and their pastoral endeavours.

Members commit themselves to:

Every day:

1) pray one decade of the holy rosary for the sanctification of our priests and for our priestly vocations,

2) and recite the Prayer of the Confraternity;
Every year:
3) have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered once for these intentions.
